Keratins are cytoplasmic intermediate filament proteins expressed by stratified and simple-type epithelial cells. Cytokeratin 19 is a type I keratin that is the smallest known keratin and in contrast to all other keratin does it have no designated partner for filament formation. This antibody detects a variety of epithelium and epithelial malignancies including adenocarcinomas of colon, stomach, pancreas, biliary tract, liver and breast.
