Beschreibung

Calponin is an actin filament-associated regulatory protein that binds actin, tropomyosin and calmodulin. Calponin 1 is one of three isoforms and is expressed in smooth muscle cells. It is implicated in the regulation and modulation of smooth muscle contraction. The calponin antibody has been used to detect invasion of breast lesion. Calponin is also expressed on malignant fibrous histiocytoma of bone and adenoid cystic carcinoma of salivary gland.
