Beschreibung

CD3 is a protein complex that is composed of five chains (gamma, delta, epsilon, zeta, eta) which associate with the T-cell receptor (TCR). CD3e, also known as T-cell surface glycoprotein CD3 epsilon chain, is a membrane protein that plays a role in TCR-CD3 complex assembly and signal transduction regulating T-cell proliferation, apoptosis and thymocyte development. Some signal transducing molecules recruited by CD3e are oncogenic leading to disturbance in CD3e signaling. Overexpression of CD3e is associated with high incidence of T-cell lymphomas whereas no lymphomas were detected at low or absent CD3e expression. Defects in CD3e are linked to immunodeficiency.
CD3e (QR4) may be helpful in detection of T-cells and T-cell derived malignancies including multiple myeloma, acute myeloid leukemia or chronic lymphocytic leukemia [1-5].
