Proximal Nephrogenic Renal Antigen is a 200 kDa glycoprotein (gp200) that is localized in the normal kidney within the brush border of the pars convoluta and pars recta segments of the proximal renal tubule and on the luminal surface of Bowman's capsule. It is also expressed in spleen, thymus, colon, and peripheral blood lymphocytes. It acts as an endocytic receptor. This antibody is useful reagent in the detection of carcinomas of proximal nephrogenic differentiation especially with tubular differentiation. It shows no significant cross-reactivity with other carbohydrate determinants (Lewis blood group antigens, epithelial membrane antigen, HMFG, AB blood group antigens).
