This antibody is a member of the 14-3-3 family that have the ability to bind a multitude of functionally diverse signaling proteins, including kinases, phosphatases, and transmembrane receptors. 14-3-3 proteins are a family of conserved regulatory molecules expressed in all eukaryotic cells. 14-3-3 epsilon is an adapter protein that interacts with a large number of partners, usually by recognition of a phosphoserine or phosphothreonine motif, including CDC25 phosphatases, RAF1, and IRS1 proteins. Binding generally results in the modulation of the activity of the binding partner. It has been implicated in the pathogenesis of small cell lung cancer. It is localized in cytoplasm and melanosome.
